This Flickering Lantern comes with a photocell. The photocell will turn the light on at dusk and off after approximately 5 to 6 hours, or at dawn. The lantern will not light in daylight conditions. To turn the light back on after it automatically shuts you would simply turn the switch to the "OFF" position and then back to the "ON" position. The light will stay on for another 5 to 6 hours or the photocell will turn it off at daylight. The photocell can also be affected by other light sources, such as car lights or a streetlight.
Requires 2 "D" Alakaline batteries, not included. Maximum battery life is 800 hours, which represents approximately 4 to 6 months of normal use.
